Biography
Aleksandar Filev is a Macedonian artist, born in 1982 in Strumica. He completed his secondary education at the High School for Applied Arts "Lazar Ličenoski" in Skopje. He graduated Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje, Department of Painting with a focus on Conservation and Restoration, in the class of Prof. Blagoj Manevski.

From 2001 to 2010, he worked as an assistant, and since 2010 he worked as a mentor and was head of the open studio for contemporary mosaic within the framework of the International Strumica Art Colony. Since 2013, he was head of the Art Gallery at the National Institution Cultural Center “Anton Panov” – Strumica. He participated in the creation of the monumental mosaic in the village of Pelince, marking the 60th anniversary of ASNOM.

He has participated in many group exhibitions and art colonies in the country and abroad. He is a recipient of an award for a successful mosaic solution in Braciano, Italy, in 2009. His works are part of private collections as well as in state institutions in the country and abroad: USA, Ireland, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Switzerland… His works are also part of the Museum of Contemporary Mosaic in Bracciano, Italy. He participated in the creation of a monumental mosaic at the Macedonian Orthodox Church in Tringel, Switzerland. He also took part in process of the creation of the mosaics in the church ” The Fifteen Holy Martyrs of Tiberiopolis ” in Strumica.
